Overview of Bachelor of Education Program
The department had been preparing for its establishment since June 2014, and was approved by the Ministry of Education to set up the department of lifelong learning and counseling psychology on September 12, 2014. The department was later renamed as the department of counseling psychology and human resources development on January 13, 2015, after the Student Guidance and Counseling Act passed and the department met the manpower demands of national key policies. In 2015, the department started to enroll students.
In order to better facilitate the professional development of "counseling psychology" and "lifelong learning and human resources", the department approved the grouping of students’ enrollment status on October 7, 2015, and adopted such the grouping since 2016. Under this grouping method, there are two separate groups, namely, the group of counseling psychology, and the group of lifelong learning and human resources development.
Overview of Master of Education Programs
This Master Program is composed of guidance and counseling master program, lifelong learning and human resources development master program.
【Master Program of Guidance and Counseling】
National Chi Nan University was founded in 1995. In accordance with its medium and long-term development plan, the Institute of Guidance and Counseling (the predecessor of the master program of guidance and counseling).
When the Institute of Guidance and Counseling was established, the multi-ethnicity and multi-culture issues had gradually become the social focus, but the majority of Taiwan’s schools still focused on the training of talents of school guidance. In order to meet the needs of social change and mobility, as well as the NCNU’s development plan, this master program aims to promote the community guidance and counseling.
【Master Program of Lifelong Learning and Human Resources Development】
This master program (formerly the Institute of Adult and Continuing Education) has been dedicated to the promotion of lifelong learning and human resource development since its establishment in 1999. In 2007, the institute set up the in-service master program of lifelong learning and human resources development (affiliated to the Institute of Education). This course is the first one set up in Taiwan to combine the life-long learning and human resources development. Since its establishment, it is highly welcomed by the employees located in the central region, and is the first choice of brand for anyone interested in lifelong learning and human resources development.
Overview of Guidance and Counseling Doctor of Philosophy Program
In 2004, the department recognized the importance of formulating policy of cultivating advanced academic talents and leaders with solid academic background if the community psychological health work could develop on a sustainable basis. Otherwise, the success is hard to be achieved. Therefore, the establishment of guidance and counseling PhD program was proposed, and it was approved to enroll students in 2006.
